BOMs Away - Garden Friends

I pulled the 7 blocks for Garden Friends down off the inspiration wall so I could start the stitch-down process on their fused applique. Took a fair bit of time to carefully cut away the background fabric behind the pieces first.


I did the stitching for the blacks and the greens, which comprises the largest bulk of the work. I'd hoped to finish all of it when I was considering my BOM work yesterday, but as today turned out, I ended up spending more time with family, so I wasn't able to. Which is how it should be.  :)

    Your right family does come first. Which is why I don't always get much done but that is okay. Your blocks look great.

    A couple questions on your applique: Do you use a stabilizer on the back of your fabric squares? Do you cut the blocks larger than indicated to allow for the fabric to "gather up" when stitching? Thanks.

    These are such cute blocks, I particularly love the beehive. That will be some fine machine applique going around the little bees! I hope all's well.

    good idea to do all the same color applique on each block. I did that when I was working on my Bertie's Year BOM.
