Other than my family, the passion of my life is quilting. An eclectic, I love a wide variety of styles and techniques encompassing both machine and hand work. I am a longarm quilter who can work for you. I enjoy any style, from pantographs to all-over to full custom, ranging from traditional to modern. I love bringing vintage tops to life and am willing to work with a challenging quilt top. Instagram: lyncc_quilts

BOMs Away Easter weekend

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom)

Hello!  I hope you had a nice Easter

Our friends had an Easter kid born this year! So very precious.

It was a quiet holiday for Scott and I - alone this year, but we had a good day together and nice Portal and phone chats with family.

I did actually get some BOM work sewn on Saturday. It was time to open my Alaska Rainbow box! Month 1 was to sew four of Block 1, and that went lickety-split since they came cut out and ready to go.

And since I had more sewing time available, I put together Block 1 of the next BOM: The Road Home.

A few days ago I had finished Block 12 of Affairs of the Heart during TV time:

And that's all I have for you.  :)

Although, very, very soon I'll have a Flimsy to share!

Did you work on a BOM type project this week? We'd love to see your progress!

I have an announcement to make regarding BOMs Away Mondays.

Subscription prices keep going up everywhere, including the one for having linky parties on your blog. After April, BOMs Away will no longer be held in this format. Instead, it is moving to a Facebook group!

Kate and I will continue posting linky parties here each week for one more month, but you can also already access the new location:

The group is set up as a private group, meaning only members will see your posts there, and we will be screening requests to join the group so that spammers won't get in and drive us all nuts. One great thing about this move is that we can post progress any time we want, and you won't be left hanging if we've gone on vacation and forgot to set up an auto post with a linky party for you.

We hope to see you over there. I know I would not get a tenth the amount of BOM work done that I do without having this little "association" to post to.

BOMs Away - Vacation, Family, and some Affairs of the Heart work

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project

(Linky at the bottom)

We've been having an eventful couple of weeks!

Scott and I met up with my folks and their friends to do a Nassau/Dominican Republic cruise. It was a very nice visit that I wasn't sure we'd be able to do, until the latest super-spike of Covid nose dived just in time for us to do this.

Visited with a sea lion, meandered through a mountain-top botanical garden and fun town streets, saw a historic fort, and did a wee bit of BOM work on my Affairs of the Heart project.

And just 36 hours after getting home to Colorado, our daughter and hubby brought our grandbaby out for a visit! I'm in heaven.  :)

Oh!  Here are those BOM blocks I worked on during sea days -

Block 9 is finished

blocks 10 - 13 in progress
(using the back-basting technique for needle turn hand applique)

This project was lost for many years, but was returned to me a little while ago. Nice to be able to work on it again. Other hand projects have priority, so it's put away again for now, but this is supremely portable, so it got to come out for vacation time.

BOMs Away - A Christmas Visit and a little Neptune's Gift

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project

(Linky at the bottom)

Hello  :)   I sure hope you had a nice Christmas. We made a quick trip out to Florida so we could visit with our two daughters and son-in-laws out there and see our grandbaby again. It was splendid! I just wish I'd been better focused on getting pictures of all of us. Still, here are a few gems:

Such a huge smile from him right off the bat!

I did actually let GrandPop have turns with him, too.  :)

Old Man Lupin loved him, even during crying bouts, and looked for Baby Oliver after they left. So funny! (the perspective of this photo makes Oliver look much smaller than he really is)

Oliver was absolutely mesmerized with this shirt!

A family walk around neighborhood walks - the lights enchanted him.

And a moment with Aunt Heather  :)

We even managed to get a wee bit of work done on the house the day after Christmas - gutters cleaned out, some old caulking torn out and replaced, a bit of trim painting, and some prep work to paint the second bathroom. Not super productive on this end of things, but Baby time and holiday closures cut into that capability.

We got back very late last night, but before we left, I managed to do the Month 9 work for Neptune's Gift, which was to insert the central compass in the background square (this is about 5 feet square):

No delivery of the Month 11 kit was awaiting our return, so as I start working on Month 10, I'm caught up with this BOM!  That makes me very happy.

BOMs Away - Ollie's quilt and Some Birds

Goodness, it has been a while! Thanks to Sandra poking her head in the door, I'm revving back up.

First: Look at this amazing Wee One!!!!

I haven't done a single stitch of piecing, quilting, or hand work since making Oliver's photo quilt for Devon. It was nice this weekend to sit back down at one of the machines.

I worked through the next three colors of bird wings, which yielded 9 row-packs to take upstairs for their next step (tail-tucking and paper-removing at evening TV times). 24 rows still have temps higher than the colors I've stitched down so far.

BOMs Away - Book Break

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom)

Oh!  I'm so sorry!

I abruptly decided to take a week off from all things quilting, and my brain's been hyper-focused on the audiobooks I help make.

We finished up the play Belinda, An April Folly in Three Acts, by A. A. Milne.   (Yep, that's the author of Winnie the Pooh fame, who also gave us this amusing romantic frolic.)  I love working with all the folks who help record, and also to everyone who oversees us and makes the covers for us (a much more finicky task than you'd think it would be!)  The audiobook is published now (and free) at

Belinda: An April Folly in Three Acts

And we're hard at work on The Bat, by Mary Roberts Reinhart.

This one will take a few more weeks to wrap up, as it's a dramatic reading, and it takes a while to gather everybody's recordings for all the chapters and then splice things together. It's rather like making an audio quilt!

I've been volunteering with LibriVox for a couple of years, putting in 1-5 hours every week. This past week I enjoyed submerging all my free time into it.

And now, I'm headed over to my cutting table to draw out a monkey and an elephant to work up a Baby Photo quilt that my daughter asked for. Need to hustle on that, to beat Oliver if he decides to come early!  Official due date is 4 weeks from now. . .  Getting super excited to become a Grandma!!!

BOMs Away Monday - The Phone Edition

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project

(Linky at the bottom)

Let's see if I can do this from my phone. . .

We're on a short weekend trip to spend the day with my Dad for his 80th birthday!  I hope I can be a spry 80 like this. I mean, the man still builds things like garages!

Before we hopped over the mountains, I put together the last batch of my 2021 Temperature Dots - 19 per row -

And I had worked through 3 more colors on the bird wings of Heather & Pat's Love Birds quilt -

These middle-temps colors have a lot more work per color, so they run a lot longer on my work table. I was ridiculously happy when clearing 64 degrees let me pull the first packet, finished, out of the lineup!

Who would think that with stretches of -17 degree lows and -6 degree highs (Farenheit), I'd have to get so far up the thermometer for any of the rows to be finished? I still have 4 summertime packets that haven't been brought into the work lineup.

BOMs Away - Sage & Sea Glass and a nice walk

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project

(Linky at the bottom)

We had a pleasant Father's Day here - some steak on the grill, a visit from our youngest, a walk through the meadows with the grandpup on a day that couldn't be more gorgeous . . .  very nice.  :)

And for BOM work this weekend, I got the other 20 Sage & Sea Glass main blocks assembled:

I absolutely love these blocks, but they were very time intensive to sew together - so many match points on them! Looking forward to moving to Bag 4 next month!

How about your end? Have you done some BOM work lately?

BOMs Away - a wedding pic or two

Welcome to the Link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!

Where we share what we're doing on a BOM type project

(Linky at the bottom)

So sorry I forgot to put BOMs Away up on Monday! Our youngest got married on Sunday, and folks have been in town from many states. Thank goodness for vaccinations all around so we could gather for a nice wedding at the regional park's wedding gazebo.  (I don't have any of the real photos yet.)

This photo actually has four of our family in it - our newlywed youngest with her middle sister & hubby - and my first grandchild onboard!

John & Marissa have a young Samoyed, Mango, who was part of the festivities. This was her only squirrely moment, so it went just fine having her at the reception.

It was mighty nice to see my sister. We haven't had a good moment to be together for a very long time.

As you can imagine, I've done no BOM work at all this past week.
