Other than my family, the passion of my life is quilting. An eclectic, I love a wide variety of styles and techniques encompassing both machine and hand work. I am a longarm quilter who can work for you. I enjoy any style, from pantographs to all-over to full custom, ranging from traditional to modern. I love bringing vintage tops to life and am willing to work with a challenging quilt top. Instagram: lyncc_quilts

BOMs Away - BunBuns and Stitchery

Welcome to the Link-Up for BOMs Away Mondays!
We'd love to see the BOM you're working on lately.
This week's link-up is at the bottom of the post.

Hi there  :D

For BOM work this week, I had two projects going. I got the eight BunBuns made for my Fancy Forest:

And I have a pretty substantial pile of cut-offs to add to my bonus HSTs from this project. I have a fair bit of linen left over after cutting everything out for the whole quilt, so I'll work something up with all the cast-offs later on.

But my priority project right now is Scott's retirement quilt. With the inner flag pannel assembled, I could see better where I wanted to mark the words to be embroidered, and I got all that stitching finished.

The birds are now singing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." What could be more appropriate for Scott's quilt than to sing, "And I'll proudly stand up next to you and defend her still today. . . God Bless the U.S.A."!

The major-deployments panel has the place, year, and unit for each depiction, as well as his total time in active duty and retiring rank.

The panel of Air Force stars has the places of "permanent" residence stitched on. He really loves it all.

Next step is to stitch down the parts of the fused applique that I won't be stitching down simultaneously with the quilting, like the tiny park bench slats. . . Not my favorite task, but works out better when the extra step is taken. :D

How about you? Did you work on your BOMs or other interval projects?  :D

  8. It's so good to see what you're working on these days, Lyn! The thoroughness and time you're spending on the retirement quilt is amazing, and the finish will be more than amazing. Do you have a deadline for calling it done? I hope your hubs knows what a talented wife he has!
