And it's not far at all from us. Only 7 miles away it is doing this to some 100 homes:
Wind has just shifted our way now, with ashes already drifting into our yard. Right as the heat wave starts soaring and gusts rise to 30-35 mph, creating extreme fire-fighting conditions. :(
We have the Air Force, Army, National Guard, and numerous fire companies working hard on it. Only time will tell what happens for us in Woodmoor.
In case we have to evacuate, too, Heather and I are gathering the most important things, ready to toss into the truck and car. Of course, quilts get stacked right from the start - here's the beginning of our gatherings.
Yes, my Dear Jane work is in that drawer. No way is it getting left behind now that I'm so close to being finished after two whole years of work!! Oh - gotta add the cat carriers and medicines box. . . And if there's still room I'll throw in my Sapphire machine. So, I'm off to gather those things.
Pray for us, but especially for all the families who have already lost their homes. :(

Yikes! My husband is a wildland fire fighter. It looks like it's going to be a very bad year. I hope you stay safe and that your house is spared.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! Although I'm in tornado country now, I grew up in wildfire territory and it's really scary. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you guys are safe and don't have to evacuate!
ReplyDeleteI pray for you and your home and your safety.
ReplyDeletePraying
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you and your neighbors! Somehow the weather has gone wild. There are so many families loosing their homes over here - due to high waters in rivers... if one could just send the water over to you ;o(
ReplyDeleteLots of positive thoughts and prayers to all of you in that area. Scary!
ReplyDeleteStay safe Lyn!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the wind changes to blow the fire away from your home (and everyone else's homes!)
Oh my... I certainly will. So scary.
ReplyDeleteI wondered how close you were to the fires. Oh my. I have been saying prayers all day in your behalf. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeletePraying, Too. Keep us Posted!
ReplyDeleteOh, how scary. Will prayer for your protection and safety.
ReplyDeletePrayers ascending.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.
Always Queenie
Sending prayers your way!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate that for you. Hopefully you will not have to evacuate. Stay safe! Praying!
ReplyDeletePraying for you all Lyn!!!! What a horrible thing to be happening - God bless!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about you and the firefighters too. Hope they get this under control.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm so sorry to hear this, Lyn! I hope you don't have to leave, especially in the middle of the night. Or at all! This must be so unnerving. I will definitely say prayers. (Gosh, I hope you're even able to read these comments!) Bless you, my friend. Linda
ReplyDeleteHow scary! Stay safe. I will pray for all
ReplyDeleteI hope you're okay and the spreading is stopped!
ReplyDeleteMy son fights forest fires all summer so out eyes are always on the Western States. My prayers are heading your way.
ReplyDeleteVery frightening! Hope the fire is soon controlled. Would definitely take your Dear Jane! I don't have much of value, but would take the baby photos and the quilts (done and in process). Seems too soon after you moved in to have to think about packing up stuff!
ReplyDeleteHope you receive some rain soon! That fire is too close for comfort and living with the threat of evacuation is not fun. We are so dry here too and forest fires are my biggest fear where we live!
ReplyDeletePrayers from Texas!
ReplyDeleteOh my. Stay safe, Lyn.
ReplyDeleteI hope you stay safe....not a pleasant time. Praying for you....
ReplyDeleteDon't forget any photo albums you have, digital is so easy, but those old pictures are so important. Our evacutation plan has photos, important papers and cash.
ReplyDeleteThis is so stressful, take good care of yourself.
Stay safe - I'm sending good thoughts your way. And I second Dana's suggestion about photo albums. My aunt and uncle lost everything in a fire and the thing they most miss are the photos.
ReplyDeleteStay safe. Praying for all who are affected by the fires.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to those that have lost their homes as well as those like you who are still in danger.
ReplyDeleteSo scary to see the headlines with homes lost and threatened; stay safe!
ReplyDeleteWow, here's hoping that they get the fire contained and that no more homes are lost.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't even imagine what you are going through right now. You will be in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and your family and hoping you stay safe.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Lyn, you are in our prayers x
ReplyDeletePraying for you. Hope you went ahead and left the area. Fire that close and wind in your direction......
ReplyDeleteIf there is anything I can do to help don't hesitate to ask. AZ is not that far away.
I have been on vacation and not know where the fire was. Praying for you all!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you Lynette. Take good care and I hope the fires get under control.
ReplyDeleteSince it is the 19th and you have not posted I can only assume that you evacuated. Hope to hear from you soon: kind of worried. Our son and his family are in Falcon so we have been getting updates but that does not tell us how you are doing.
