Other than my family, the passion of my life is quilting. An eclectic, I love a wide variety of styles and techniques encompassing both machine and hand work. I am a longarm quilter who can work for you. I enjoy any style, from pantographs to all-over to full custom, ranging from traditional to modern. I love bringing vintage tops to life and am willing to work with a challenging quilt top. Instagram: lyncc_quilts

BOMs Away - A Skiier . . . and a Cat

Welcome to the link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!
Where we share what we're doing on a BOM-type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom.)

Hello!

I've finished the applique for Block 10 of my Classic Nutcrackers quilt (one of Sue Garman's wonderful patterns).

Here's my old-time Skiier:

Only two more nutcrackers to applique!

And then I can figure out what-all threads I want to get for their embroidery. . .

P.S.

My funny, funny cat has demanded that I take this shot. The fella who normally disdains photos and gets downright angry every time you snap a shot, howled and howled and yowled until I not only acknowledged his clever spot, but remained restless until I came back with my phone and took his photo. So I give you,

"Portrait of a Cat"

Now he has resumed his happy day about the house. Too stinkin' funny!

BOMs Away - A pretty hijack

Welcome to the link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!
Where we share what we're doing on a BOM-type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom.)

There it is!  It was too late to get a great photo, but I got the rest of the bay window treatments finished this weekend. whoop! whoop!

How funny! That lampshade is not yellow; that's just how the camera sees that bulb's light.
It's actually cream like the ceiling color.

These babies took way more work than I ever dreamed up front that they would take.
And they completely hijacked all of this week's BOM time.
Now to focus on finishing the door remodeling so I can get those saw horses out of the room and move the chest back where it's supposed to be . . . looking forward to not having to crawl around it getting in and out of bed!

Q4 List

~*~*~*~

Not sure how many quilts I can finish up around the ongoing house remodeling, but it's nice to be back at the stage of making goal lists again. This is linked up at She Can Quilt's post for the fourth quarter of intentions.
Here is my Q4 LIST OF QUILTS for the complete finish by December 31st:

(This is intentionally over-populated since finishes only count if they're listed up front.)
1. Sew Spooky – pleeeease get this finished for Halloween!

2. Ruffled Roses - for Scott's Mom , stitched from Aug 2011 to Aug 2013, it has 5,139 pieces and an ambitious quilting plan!

3. The Nov UFO Challenge, #? – to be drawn from my challenge list on Nov 1

4. Daisy Days - this only needs binding. Seriously? Finish it!

5. The Dec UFO Challenge, #? – to be drawn from my challenge list on Dec 1

6. Once Upon a Star - has the trapunto finished, now needs overall quilting

7. Holly Jolly Snowman - a kit I pieced together in December 2011. It's so cute - why is this not quilted yet??

8. Holiday Tidings - A BOM kit I got at JoAnn's in 2000, but pieced from Nov 2013 to March 2014. Maybe this will get quilted this season, and not hit a full TWO DECADES in UFO Land?

9. Raven's Throne - Row quilt 2 of 6 requested by Scott for his office, needs all the foreground work

10. Borealis Ridge - Row quilt 3 of 6 requested by Scott for his office, untouched kit

11. Caribou Crossing - Row quilt 4 of 6 requested by Scott for his office, untouched kit

12. The April UFO Challenge #5, "Devon's Quilt" – Queen size double wedding ring started beginning of 2015 or end of 2014, last worked on Dec 2017. Need quilting of the wide applique borders.

13. Hearts - pieced in May 2010

14. Modernology - pieced from Dec 2013-August 2014, a personal favorite, so why has this stalled so long?

15. Christmas Door Cover - Oh!  And I can't forget the  seasonal door cover I need to make for my longarm room so that my daughter visiting from Florida can have some privacy while she's camping out in there. I want to make a tree something like this and perch 2 or 3 cardinals in it.

16. Bay Window Treatments - Get the other two finished and installed

17. Garden Tub Picture Window Treatments - Find a trim I like and get these made and installed

18. Master Suite French Empire Doors - Finish the remodel work on the 4 doors and re-install them. Channeling a modified Louis XV look

BOMs Away - The Mountain Climber Nutcracker in New Orleans, Garden District

Welcome to the link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!
Where we share what we're doing on a BOM-type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom.)

Hi there!  We got home from New Orleans today. What a fun week in shorts and sandals, stolen from a Colorado October.  :)

I finished the applique for nutcracker 9 yesterday from the Sue Garman Classic Nutcracker patterns.

He's a little fierce looking, eh?!  ha!  I'm pretty sure I'd get right out of his way if I came upon his path and his scowl.  :D

When he was finished, I went strolling around the Garden District for a few "Flat Stanley" type shots of him.

Here the Bavarian Mountain Climber poses in front of Sandra Bullock's New Orleans Swiss-architecture mansion:

A few door down, he poses at John Goodman's home:

A couple blocks away he shows you the front entrance at Anne Rice's mansion (the author of "Interview with a Vampire" and all kinds of other vampire/witch/ghost novels) before she moved to California in 2009:

A couple blocks from there he shows you the Bed & Breakfast we stayed in:

And he just had to show you The Ghost Manor, 3 doors down:

What a fun place! The Garden District shows that the French Quarter doesn't have all the Halloween fun. I missed getting a video of the skeletons' Rhapsody in Blue concert, but here's their Thriller show:

Super fun private residence where the dad just loves his Halloween fun.  :)

Did you get some BOM work done, too?

BOMs Away - Prep Week

Welcome to the link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!
Where we share what we're doing on a BOM-type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom.)

The only BOM work I've accomplished this week is making sure I have all the remaining Nutcrackers coordinated in baggies so I can take them with me to a week in. . .

The Garden District of New Orleans!

Not sure how much I will or won't get done on them (the first two have some work done already).

I'm not a crowds person, and while I *am* a music person who would love very much to enjoy some jazz venues, my Lupus stuff is reactive enough these days to any perfumes or smoking that such venues are increasingly unattractive. When 20 minutes of exposure can leave you feeling slammed like you have the full on flu for a week or longer, the ways you want to spend your time change.

I do have different tours I want to enjoy while Scott's in his conference courses, but I also know I'd love to just sit in gorgeous areas or even on a trolley car or a cemetery (they don't make them anywhere else like they do in New Orleans) and do some slow stitching.  I really enjoy those quiet moments now.

Did you get some BOM work done recently?

OMG for October, WIP

So much of my year got hijacked away from quilting, that it feels really great to get back in the swing of things with quilting!!  I'm linking to Elm Street Quilts for OMG.

For October, I will get over myself with my mental blocks on this very fun quilt and put it on my frame to be my One Monthly Goal project. I want the quilting completely finished by month's end! Bonus if I get the binding and hanging sleeve finished in time for it be on the wall for Halloween.

(This is the Sew Spooky pattern by The Quilt Company)

There remains perhaps 60% of the detail quilting, which will happen in many different thread colors.

Also, this is on my 18 in 2018 list, which needs some serious attention.

It'll be the perfect quilt for the month - probably the only quilt for the month since half my days are still dedicated to remodeling work - and next year it will be available for the wall all month long!

~*~*~

But FIRST, I have a customer quilt to do, which is the current WIP.

Yesterday I fired the longarm back up after a good cleanup to rid all the dust and check the oil. It's loaded with a customer's super fun fabric and her really luscious red velveteen backing.

As soon as the store will be open, I'll swing by to pick up the perfect thread for it, and then go to town with the quilting. Maddy wants random vertical lines (I've loaded it sideways for quilting ease), so this makes the perfect project to break back into my normal stride on the longarm - simple to execute and gratifyingly fast to work through and pull off the frame.
