Other than my family, the passion of my life is quilting. An eclectic, I love a wide variety of styles and techniques encompassing both machine and hand work. I am a longarm quilter who can work for you. I enjoy any style, from pantographs to all-over to full custom, ranging from traditional to modern. I love bringing vintage tops to life and am willing to work with a challenging quilt top. Instagram: lyncc_quilts

BOMs Away - Allietare, Baekjool Bulgul, Heather's Belt Test

Welcome to the Link-Up for BOMs Away Mondays!
We'd love to see the BOM you're working on lately.
This week's link-up is at the bottom of the post.

Hello there!  I'm betting I'm not the only one swamped in Christmas prep that's knocking normal schedules completely off the planet.  :)

Lots of quilting work has happened here the past several weeks that can't be shared. All that's happened for "BOM" work is this much of the Allietare Clue 3:

And that's ALL that will happen with that Mystery until the 28th or so, maybe even later than that!  Well, except it'll all get bagged up and put neatly on my desk so the pool table will be available for its original purpose. . .

In the meantime, this is what gets my attention, in a mad bid to have it all finished by Friday night:

Pretty gold thread work at the moment! I'm just about ready to break the machine back down into free-motion mode.

And after the center's FMQ work is done, I'll go back to the belt work. Super happy that the effect is spot on - the quilting work makes it actually look like little belts lined up together.  :D

Oh! And Heather got her red belt on Saturday up at the dojang near her school. It's so nice to live close enough to drive in for those occasions.  :)   Gotta say, I'm glad we don't have to do active sparring in our regular belt tests!

BOMs Away - Allietare & December

Yes! You're in the right place for BOMs Away Monday.

Are you getting excited for Christmas? I am.  :)

This week's BOM time was spent working on Allietare Clue 2 and on the first mini of a year-long gift.

I cut all the pieces out for Clue 2 of Allietare, sewed one set of the units up, and tucked everything away with a note in a zippy until after the holidays. Looking forward to when it gets its sewing time!  Thank you again to Bonnie Hunter for this year's Mystery.

Winter Mystery 2015 - Allietare!Go "HERE" for Bonnie's current listing of "Allietare!" mystery details and to find specifics of sizes and numbers of units. I'm linking my smidge of work on her Linky for this week, here: Allietare Part 2 Link-Up

As for the Gift BOM, right now I can only give you a peek:

I'm really happy with how it turned out.  :)

I was also really happy yesterday - It was Belt Test Day at the dojang, and we three got our red belts. I feel like it's our first step of really getting there. I love the hanboks that people wear sometimes for these occasions.

Master Lee really surprised me when he called me up to join Leadership. He always gives red roses to people, young and old, when they are given invitations.

I love all the fantastic people we've met through Taekwondo. You can't find better folks.  :)

How about you? - Did you work on BOMs this past week or so?

WIP - 3D Construction with Pals, and a Birthday!

Needed a break from the machine for a little bit, so I thought I'd put up a WIP Wednesday post.

Well, first I snuck a sliver of left-over birthday cake from last night. Yum!  Our youngest is officially a young adult now. Yeah - I admit that made me feel middle-aged finally! Good thing I'm immature, so I don't really think I'm that old.  ;D

She wanted a lazy go-to-school-in-your-sweats day, so she didn't want pictures taken. I had fun doing things like stringing 18 pink roses up the stairs for her to gather, putting a few balloons here and there for her to find, with a little red-and-white rose bouquet and a card where she likes to sit in the family room. And doesn't every girl need a moose to pick her up from school with a love monkey and some snowmen brownies when Mom comes to take her out to lunch?  :)

Before this break, I finished the initial construction of these large 3D panels, which gave me a LOT of leader/ender action for several other projects, including my "Allietari" part 1 HSTs (all are sewn, about 1/3 are cut apart, and maybe 1/5 are pressed open and seen here), some circles I need for a Christmas project, and some of the work on rays for the "Parasol" kit I bought back in March or April.

Those panels have a ton of 1/2"-finished flap rows that could have been nasty if I'd gotten my math wrong or botched the precision sewing. (You can see the oversized ends I put in just in case I needed extra fabric when I attach them.) But laying them out so far, they're spot on!  Now I need to put my engineer hat back on and figure out how to get the twists all nice and pretty, secured, and incorporated the way I want in the project they're for. . .
