Other than my family, the passion of my life is quilting. An eclectic, I love a wide variety of styles and techniques encompassing both machine and hand work. I am a longarm quilter who can work for you. I enjoy any style, from pantographs to all-over to full custom, ranging from traditional to modern. I love bringing vintage tops to life and am willing to work with a challenging quilt top. Instagram: lyncc_quilts

BOMs Away - Ruffled Roses & Keepin It Real!

Welcome to the Link-Up for BOMs Away Mondays!

We'd love to see the BOM you're working on lately.
This week's link-up is at the bottom of this post.

How did I miss last week's BOMs Away posting?  Really sorry about that, folks! I guess I was so caught up in getting my Rainbow Jane fully assembled that everything else flew out of my brain at the time!

Back in the groove here. It's Ruffled Roses week, and I finished the applique for another border side:

And you know - I've "heard" a lot of folks share frustrations with feeling inadequate after seeing so many pictures of perfection in projects and homes through blogs and Pinterest, etc., that I decided it was time to post a Keep It Real photo.

Normally I frame my shots to ignore the everyday messes in our home. But seriously - this is the usual state of the Quilting Parlor (this room only gets to be a dining room on Thanksgiving): creativity messes piling on the cutting station, fabrics draped over chairs, the waste basket on the chair, chairs in weird spots, rug fringes all askew, threads on the rug, books stacked around the room.

Well, at least the cabinet door is normally closed except on BOMs Away mornings.  ;D  The books - we've been here a year and still can't afford to get a good bookcase for my Newbery and literature classics collections. If the cars would stop breaking down at the rate of two serious things per pay period (Not exaggerating! - this has gone on since March or April, nonstop and still 4 more pressing things to fix as each two-week pay period rolls around. . . ) I might be able to actually get cases before Christmas time! I want something nice to keep forever, not cheap press-board items, so it's a wait I'm willing to keep making.

Oh, and I'm hoping to be able to get curtains in October. (At least this is the only room in the house that doesn't have a spectacular view making windows gorgeous even without treatments.) So there you have it! The Real Deal instead of the artfully framed presentation. Messy tables that get fully cleared off only when house guests are coming, unfinished home decor that awaits funding. (But I'd do the unexpected next-door empty lot purchase all over again, budget hardships and all - it's worth the wait for decor funds.)  :D

Don't sweat the messes in your home! You are not the only one. 99% of us do not have primly, perfectly clean homes ready for magazine shoots. We bloggers just get pretty darned good at camera angles!  ;D

What did you do on your BOMs this week?  :)

~*~*~*~*~

Weeklies are welcome along with regular projects that you’ve broken into monthly units, and –of course- true BOMs.   Share your eye candy and show off your progress since the last time you linked up! There are some wonderful monthly and weekly projects going on out there.

  1. Hey, it's good to see the books out of place and its been a year since you moved? My husband is on my case about not unpacking the books yet - I'm just waiting for the bookshelves to be in their permanent location! Not shelving, moving and unshelving.

  2. You may be able to nab some decent furniture from Craigs List. I furnished my quilting room with book shelves, etc at great savings. Also a very nice tv armoire (Broyhill)for the kitchen nook that holds heavy pieces of stoneware instead of a tv. No, it's not creepy, mostly older couples retiring, moving or downsizing letting nice pieces go.

  4. I am so excited to see your Jane quilt! I found your quilt at the show in Denver, I posted pictures on the blog. It was fun to recognize your quilt among the others.

  6. The real deal is always real... mine looks like this too. You should check IKEA for bookcases. I have open ones from IKEA for my quilting books and they are very inexpensive.
