WIP - Feathers!! Finally!!!

You guys!!!  

I can finally - FINALLY - do feathers that come out acceptably instead of looking like a kindergartner did them.  :D


The funny thing is, I can only do them if I put in the little curly-q on every other plume. Try it without, and they all go catty-wumpus.

I figure once I get all the blue of this quilt done, I'll be much more comfortable and proficient with them and ready to try another variation.  :)

I can't tell you how happy this breakthrough makes me after almost a year of disappointing attempts!  Give me some time, and they'll look even better. For now, I'm thrilled with them.

    Yip, I do them one way, and one way only too. Something to do with the brain and the way it works (or doesn't work) I am sure.

    What a great job Lyn!!! Everyone's feathers have their own "stamp" to them - your's have a little curly-que :*) I need to get busy and practice mine again. I haven't done any FMQ in quite a while.

    I am also jealous I can never get them to look good. Did you trace them first or did you just start stitching?

    I think your feathers look great. Trust me, if any bird had to fly with the feathers I make free motion, they'd be nose-diving down to the ground ker-plunk!

    See? Now hasn't everyone told you, practice makes perfect? You'll only continue to get better, and before you know it, you'll be making two curved feathers next to each other. Way to persevere!
