Welcome to my Link-Up for BOMs Away Mondays!

(We'd love to see the BOM you're working on lately.)

Wild Rose Cottage construction underway

Now that I have a moment, I want to update this to link up at A Quilting Reader's Garden for Applique Thursday.

This medallion block for my Wild Rose Cottage BOM is pieced in the pattern:

But after getting into hand applique this year, I just couldn't make this block looking so regimented when a little effort could soften it up as applique. I felt that the overall quilt style allowed machine stitching very nicely, so I'm doing it that way with teeny-tiny blanket stitches (like TEENY). It looks nice!  I wouldn't want it on an heirloom Baltimore, but it's perfect here.

I *HATE* the prep work, though!!! LOL  All year, my hand applique has been done with the back-basting method, which is so very simple, easy, and supremely portable. No messy starch burned on the iron, no excruciating work turning edges without burning your fingers, no icky glue to get on everything and then have to wash out later. . .   I'll be happy to go back to my hand work after this, but I do allow that it's nice to have the faster sewing time once it's ready for the machine.

So, with this work, I'm linking up my BOMs Away post to the most recent
"Applique Thursday"
- which also happens to be a giveaway (and your work doesn't even have to be applique to link up)  :D

What have you guys done on BOMs or interval projects lately? Weeklies are welcome along with regular projects that you’ve broken into monthly units, and –of course- true BOMs.   Share your eye candy and show off your progress since the last time you linked up! There are some wonderful monthly and weekly projects going on out there. :D

  2. Love your cottage. I have a bunch of BOM cottage blocks stored on my computer just waiting for me to decide to work on them. Nothing to share today as I was all caught up on BOMs last month. Next week I hope to have gotten something done on the new blocks that came out this week.
