WIP Wednesday - 2 Nov - Hey! Listen Up!

So, "Listen With Your Eyes" has been at a standstill because I've been too depressed on the rare days I had a big enough chunk of time for the next step. But this morning I have an easy essay due for the day, and it sure would have been a shame to let another Wed. fly by without moving this project along. I need to get it to a stable state so I can put it away and concentrate on priority items. And I need to do that before I forget what is what!

Remember this set of checkerboards? Well, it has FIVE more companion sets that need to be constructed. I had to go through all 160something DIFFERENT pieces of fabric to figure out which ones to put where.

First, organize the stacks by number designations

Then I can figure out which ones I want to cut for the boards (some of them get used in the arcs that round out the the stars).  Thank goodness for Jacqueline's careful color code charts! I still got a raging headache from this task (took just about 4 hours altogether).

The J1-J2 snake

Once the pieces are cut for all the copies, I play around with them some more for placement.

And then get them oh-so-carefully stacked. Ready for stitching onto the papers! But I'm not going to look at these anymore today. That essay about military revolutions during the Hundred Years' War  is looking so much more palatable than it did!  ;D

A big Thank You to Lee for hosting WIP Wednesdays, and Esther for WOW.  :D

Check out my previous post for the block & tutorial I entered for the Celebrate Christmas program:

  2. Your project is looking gorgeous--wonderful colors! It looks awfully hard to keep the colors straight--I am forever sewing things in wrong (on simple things), so I can't begin to imagine what shape this would have if I did it! Have you had your vitamin D levels tested--really helped my mood. (And I think your Christmas wreath is awfully cute!)

  3. Wow! I think I would have to go running myself to take a break.

But when you come back, it will be ready to go!

  9. It's going to be beautiful. You really have your work cut out for you. I'm just now going to start ironing and cutting material for my next quilt.
