Welcome to the link-up for BOMs Away Mondays!
Where we share what we're doing on a BOM-type project
so they don't stall out in UFO-land!
(Linky at the bottom.)
I have had to take the last couple of weeks off from almost all my quilting activities. Rebuilt a wall, drafted a set of demo team uniform vest patterns, and got assigned 10 days ago as the chairperson to organize and manage the homestay experience of 45-50 visiting Taekwondo young athletes from South Korea for this year's U.S. Open Taekwondo Hanmadang next month.
I do not excel in administrative work. I am too much of a tangental artist and honestly, I believe I have autistic tendencies, so I get overwhelmed with time-sensitive organizational and actionable tasks. I really don't know what Master Lee was thinking (beyond desperation) when he pressed me into accepting the position - other than that we've participated twice as a hosting family.
Fortunately, a quite capable mom from the neighboring dojang volunteered to be my co-chair, and we've just about got most things under good control. It's all on light-yellow alert now instead of blood-red urgent chaos status.
No work on the Star Crazy borders this weekend, but in the evenings I've managed to get quite far on the Nutcracker King:
Have you done any BOM work lately?
~*~*~
Kate over at Katie Mae Quilts has joined me in hosting this meet-up,
and linking up from either end puts you on the party at both sides.
Oh EEK - too many logistical details!!! I am so glad the other mom is helping you. It can be done but much easier with help.
ReplyDeleteNutcracker King is amazing! I am so in love with him (ha ha).
ReplyDeleteSorry your life got busy. Sometimes we need to say "no" while other times we really need to serve others. I have been on both sides and find there are seasons in my life where I just need to say "no" for my sanity, but a stress free life does not help us progress or help others. I am glad someone stepped up to help you out.
Just reading the words "manage", "orgainze", "chair person", and this statement, " time-sensitive organizational and actionable tasks", my anxiety level went from light-yellow alert to blood-red status!! I am so glad you have help!
ReplyDeleteGood for you -- those younguns look like they are having a ball! Sometimes a little nudge out of our comfort zones can help us to grow... (Other times, that nudge sends us right off the cliff, though, so proceed with caution!)
